A bit of mustard after the meal, Victoria's Secret...

Let's not deny it: there's trouble at the lingerie brand. The biggest headaches boiled down to two sentences? Last year, Ed Razek came under fire after he said he would never hire transgender or plus-size models for the annual Victoria's Secret fashion show. The world was downright outraged. Rightly so.
Then it also turned out that owner Leslie Wexner ‘granted access’ to his good friend Jeffrey Epstein to young girls who worked (or wanted to work) for the lingerie brand, and then things really went south. Disappointed people, disappointing sales figures, goodness, it's all going wrong. Consequence? The biggest catwalk show that has been broadcast live for 24 years in I don't know how many countries is not happening this year.
They must have scratched their heads over there in America too. How do we get the public back on our side? What is the contingency plan? How are we going to revive this half-dead show horse? And then, bam, there was the news. Valentina Sampaio will be the first transgender model ever to appear in a Victoria's Secret campaign. The model posted a photo on Instagram showing her backstage in a bathrobe. Aside from the fact that I find the Brazilian purrrrfect with a capital P, I must say it raised an eyebrow. How spontaneous and sincere can you actually call this news? A bit of mustard after the meal, this.
For me, this feels totally different than, for example, a Loiza for Hunkemöller, who put together a super cool campaign without fuss. Hats off because damn, that girl gets prettier by the day. On the other hand, I also think, whiner: Victoria's Secret could have not done it either. It's never good. Be glad they realize that mistakes have been made. Fortunately, they are now actually thinking about it. The lingerie brand finally takes off its blinders. They are looking beyond their narrow box. And at the moment that movement is underway, sales figures will really improve again. Congratulations Valentina. You should be proud of yourself. Just as you are. Let this be the beginning of something very beautiful.
