The secret to vavavoom hair

Whether I wanted to spend a day in Helsinki to visit the beautiful Lapponia factory? I didn't need to be asked twice. This jewelry brand is a big name in Finland, and celebrities like Yoko Ono, Princess Leia in Star Wars, and our own May have been fans for years. At the collection presentation, I immediately see that the designs are more like pieces of art: so refined, original, and with a clear vision that all the jewelry is both timeless and progressive. A glance into the factory shows us that skilled craftsmen work here with an enormous passion for their work. Together with the team, we get to make a ring ourselves, and I can tell you: there are many more steps involved than you think. Two hours later, I have melted, shaped, soldered, and ‘hammered’ (yes, it really involves a hammer and a special wooden block to shape the ring completely round) silver, transforming it into a beautiful ring. Lapponia's 60th anniversary is celebrated with an ‘Archive collection’, and I immediately feel greedy at the sneak peek. Especially in the fast fashion era we live in, I find it amazing to see collections like this, which are super fashionable yet timeless, allowing you to pass these pieces of jewelry down from generation to generation without them ever going out of date. I am an instant fan. Uh Jon, can I already mention my birthday gift for in about nine months?

The amount of time I spend on my clothing and skincare is so little compared to the time I spend on my hair. I wish I would get up earlier every morning to style it nicely or put some curls in, but just running a brush through it is already a lot for me. My motto: if I use good shampoo, I don't need to do much else to my hair. During a photoshoot in Ibiza two years ago, the makeup artist used hair products that I instantly fell in love with: Living Proof. Free from silicones and parabens, but with a special technology that gives your hair more volume and creates a dirt-repellent layer over your hair. I am now a die-hard fan of the volumizing shampoo and conditioner: after washing, let it dry, and your hairstyle is immediately good.

For those who weren't there: you missed the party of the year. Yesterday, Rob Peetoom celebrated his 50th work anniversary, and I have rarely experienced such a grand celebration. In a fantastic industrial location, 700 people dressed in gala attire enjoyed a delicious dinner, fashion shows, and performances by, among others, Naaz, at beautifully set tables. What immense love the Peetoom family radiates; it seems like a dream to run a family business in this way. With Rob's beautiful daughter Rochelle as the new CEO, we will hear a lot more from this family business in the future.

Last weekend, a new dimension of love came into play when I went to the zoo with Marly and all the kids. Now that they are a bit older, you suddenly see real interaction between those little ones, which melts my heart non-stop. Holding hands together, imitating each other, and babbling whole stories: I can hardly handle it. In May, we are going to Disneyland Paris again with the two families, and I really can't wait to see all the kids enjoying together. It sounds a bit cliché, but what a wealth it is to see the offspring of your dearest friends together. Hopefully, this will lead to as close a friendship as with their parents.
