Netflix tip: The Perfection is scary, disgusting, bizarre and you want to see it

Sometimes you see a movie trailer and think: yes, I have to see this. I had that immediately when I saw the trailer for the new film Joker, which unfortunately is not coming out for a while, but wow, that one is cool, I must say. And when I saw the trailer for The Perfection (not to be confused with The Perfectionists of course, a slightly different vibe), I had the same feeling. But for a different reason. With this trailer, I was only thinking. What. The. Hell. You can give it the award for most bizarre trailer as far as I'm concerned. But I have to give them credit: it works.
Let me list a few things you can expect in this trailer. Ants in vomit (a sentence and combination I never thought I would write), subcutaneous insects and severed limbs. No worries, the latter are out of sight. But if you have an insect phobia, this movie might not be your favorite. But otherwise: watch it.
The Perfection is about Charlotte, a talented cellist. When her mother falls ill, she gives up her cello career to take care of her mother. When her mother passes away, she decides to seek out her old mentor, who to her dismay has taken on a new protégé: Lizzie. Now you can guess that this doesn't sit well with Charlotte. Fun detail: Charlotte is played by Allison Williams, who also had such a freaky role in Get Out, which won an Oscar, quite special for a thriller. The psycho characters suit her well, at least.
Anyway, Lizzie starts to behave increasingly strangely and Charlotte seems to clearly have something to do with it. Enter the subcutaneous insects (I'm curious how she got those there). The trailer is not really for people with a weak stomach, but if you're a horror lover, you definitely don't want to miss this. Oh yes, the cello music in the background also adds to the atmosphere. Classical music under such a thriller really gives me nightmares.
It comes out on Netflix on May 24, so we don't have to wait long thankfully. I'm definitely ready for an evening of ghosts, nightmares and new fears. The Perfection was already shown at the film festival in Austin and it was so well received there that Netflix immediately bought the rights. Check out the trailer for yourself here. But only if you want to say goodbye to your hunger for now. I at least left my fresh shake for a moment.
