Eating pasta makes you fat? No way. You even lose weight from it.

I've always thought: my beloved pasta vongole, bolognese and spaghetti aglio e olio are fattening. Not that I did anything about it, because way too delicious to resist. But if you are about to remove pasta from your weekly menu to lose some extra pounds, then I need to talk to you now. Because what turns out? Eating pasta does not make you fat at all. On the contrary, you actually lose weight from it.

How does that work exactly? I'm going to tell you. Many diet books are convinced that pasta is the biggest cause of the good life belly, but that is completely unjustified. Research from St. Michael’s Hospital has shown that pasta is actually not that bad for your figure. You even lose weight from it. Dealing with some extra pounds? Go for the pasta then. The research showed that the 2500 test subjects lost an average of one and a half kilos after a pasta diet (a pasta diet: sounds like a dream, right?) of twelve weeks. Researcher Dr. John Sievenpiper does emphasize that the complete diet (with three servings of pasta per week) consisted solely of slow carbohydrates.

Are there any catches, you want to know? Indeed. Three servings of pasta carbonara contain quite a few more calories than pasta with fresh tomato sauce. Additionally, the research is based on 3.3 servings of 58 grams per week. So it could very well be that you don't have enough; normally, about 75 to 100 grams per person is counted. Do you also want to lose weight à la the pasta dream diet? Then do skip the parmesan and the fatty sauces and stick to smaller portions. Never ever no pasta again then. Discussion closed anyway, bye!
