Everything you want to know about Disney's new streaming service

, the newest competitor of Netflix's streaming service from Disney

So it's really going to happen. Often when I read news about new streaming services, new series, that kind of thing, I often think: that will probably stay in the US. We in the low countries probably won't be able to benefit from this. But nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, we in our little frog country are the first to benefit from this news. We are finally being considered important. Shit just got very real. I'm talking about Disney+, the newest competitor to Netflix – which will be the first to go live in the Netherlands. So here are all the facts you want to know, because that subscription has to happen, right? I'll tell you in advance that the subscription will be cheaper than a month of Netflix. Check here what you want to know about Disney+.

1. The streaming service will go live on November 12. And they will go live in every possible way. So on your smart TV, on your phone, Xbox, PlayStation, Android, and iOS – it doesn't matter, you can download the Disney+ app on it.

2. The costs. Not entirely unimportant, of course. It will be possible to take out a monthly and an annual subscription with Disney+. An annual subscription will be €69.99 and a monthly subscription €6.99. Well, I must say: that's quite a reasonable price. Sure, Netflix has many of their own series that make a subscription worth the price, but I'm very curious if Netflix will notice this competition. Especially if the price is really a lot cheaper. Whether this price is inclusive of ‘sharing’, as is possible with Netflix, remains to be seen.

3. What will we see on it? Well – surprise – mainly Disney, but also films and series from Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and National Geographic. There will also be Disney originals that will only be available on the streaming service, such as Lady and the Tramp. But the entire archive of 20th Century Fox will also be available, just like all episodes of The Simpsons. All are old Disney movies to be seen, which I am really looking forward to. A night of Cinderella, Snow White, and Pocahontas. I’m so ready for you, Disney princesses. Hopefully they will be available in Dutch and English, but I think that will be the case.

4. Disney+ will also be making exclusive series (and movies?). Just like the Netflix Originals, then. The series that have already been announced are remakes of High School Musical (YES) and series from Monsters Inc. Fun fact: for Monsters Inc. they managed to get the original cast as voice actors. For High School Musical, we will get completely new Wildcats, but I have high hopes that the well-known hits will still make an appearance. We’re soaaaring, flyyyyying. You know, I’m not even ashamed of it. I’m looking forward to High School Musical.

Well dear viewers, that's it for the Disney+ facts you need to decide whether it will be a monthly or yearly subscription. So I already have a Netflix account and a Videoland account. Currently, about eight people are benefiting from the latter (besides the shared accounts), so I'm going to check if one of them creates a Disney+ account. Otherwise, I'm going to change my passwords.
