Everything you want to know about The Handmaid’s Tale season 3

Good morning and under His eye. With the release date of The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 thickly marked in our agenda, it’s not just a countdown. If you want, you can already prepare much more than just with a trailer. What we know so far about the new season of our Amayzine favorite?
Do the Martha
In the teaser, June is dressed in light green. Handmaids always wear red and Marthas always light green... This should mean that June has been baptized to Martha in season 3. Or even better: going undercover as a Martha.
200 years later
The series is based on the book written by Margaret Atwood. Although only one book has been written and that was fully developed in the first season and the second season was a continuation of that, the showrunner still indicates that the third season will still be based on what Margaret has written. At the end of the book, there is a discussion about what happened 200 years after the story. This is a chapter, but enough to make a whole series out of it again. ‘It may be treated in a presentation, but it still comes from Margaret's novel. We are not going beyond the story; we are just treating a part of the story a lot slower than she did,’ says showrunner Bruce Miller.
How is Aunt Lydia doing now?
In the last episode of season 2 (SPOILER!), Aunt Lydia was attacked by Emily with a knife. Will Aunt Lydia survive? Bruce Miller has confirmed that she is definitely part of season 3.
And Commander Lawrence?
Bradley Whitford will also return as Commander Lawrence, despite the fact that he helped Emily escape. In fact, he will play a much larger role in the new season.
Margaret on set
Margaret watches every take and provides an extra dose of inspiration here and there, ensuring that the story in season 3 has been looked at extra closely.
June's mother
Cherry Jones, who plays Holly Maddox (June's mother), is also part of season 3.
Season 10 on its way
Bruce Miller has indicated that he has season 10 of The Handmaid’s Tale on his schedule. He wants to explore new worlds and see what happens if Gilead, for example, falls.
Or maybe 11?
Writer Margaret Atwood has indicated that she is working on a sequel to the story. The original came out in the 80s, so a good thirty years later, a new story is finally coming. The book is expected to be released in September this year. Season 11 in the pocket.
