Gossip Girl meets La La Land: this is the romcom you want to see

Musicals are definitely my thing, but when that’s not the case, this might just change your mind. Because when the writer of Gossip Girl takes it on, it must be good, right? And let me reassure you: this is not one of those ‘I spontaneously burst into song and everyone acts like it’s normal’ musicals. You can also quickly start judging it, because Soundtrack (yes, musical title too) will be available on Netflix from December 18. The entire season one, à la Netflix style.
The series is set in in Los Angeles, where I have been myself and I have never experienced that city as dreamily as it is portrayed in series and films. For example, in La La Land: I found the city quite stinky, very busy, and super touristy, but in La La Land it was calm, romantic, and full of romance. That’s the LA I want to see and that’s also the LA that can be seen in Soundtrack. The slogan of the series is ‘Every song is a love song’, which Taylor Swift would probably agree with. You immediately know what the series is about: love. And drama (oh yes). And therefore music.
And for that, they didn’t choose the least cast. Jenna Dewan plays one of the lead roles, namely the ex of Channing Tatum (who is now with singer Jessie J – will they use her music too?). Christina Milian has gotten a second chance after Falling Inn Love and is also seen in a number of episodes. Furthermore, the cast is full of actors who have a ton of dance experience, so I guess it will also be a party to watch.
Okay, some facts: the first season has 10 episodes. The characters of Soundtrack don’t know each other at first, but music plays a big role for each of them, and that’s how they get to know each other. Two of them are trying to make it in the music business, which doesn’t seem to be that easy. Are we getting a new Chuck and Blair? Oh, I hope so. But the drama will definitely be good, and in terms of romance too, if I can believe the trailer.
