If you eat pizza once a month, you are happier

I don't know about you, but I can already think about what I'm going to eat tonight while showering in the morning. And then I usually daydream not about quinoa or steamed pumpkin.

Just give me Italian cuisine por favor (or am I speaking Spanish again?). Research shows that eating pizza seriously makes you happier. Yes, where would we be as humans without this kind of scientific research? Nowhere. Because now we eat our favorite pepperoni quattro stagioni with even less guilt. And what is really nice ? Not only does eating the dough with tomato sauce and melted cheese make you happier according to serious researchers, but also seeing the pizza and smelling the pizza.

How was it researched? Hungry people were given either a pizza to eat or a boring liquid that contained the same amount of calories and carbohydrates. In short: you get the same amount of carbs and you all get the same feeling of fullness. So you are all full. You all have no hunger anymore. You guessed it: only the pizza eaters felt happy inside. The others were also full from their snack, but yes, they weren't too cheerful afterwards. It's a bit sad if you participate in a pizza study and end up in the ‘non-pizza group’. We understand.

Anyway, if you, like me, are already drooling at the thought of crispy dough edges and four different dripping cheeses in the early morning: just keep thinking about that pizza, whether you order it tonight or not. Because your brain produces dopamine just by thinking about eating this kind of fine food. It's a bit ingrained. As a human, you get happy from food that is rich in carbohydrates: in the past, you had to survive with very little stock and then carbohydrate-rich food was a smart choice. The longer you were full, the longer you could hunt bears. Your brain also gets a boost of serotonin when you eat this kind of carbs and this substance provides a feeling of happiness. It gives you more energy and a better mood. All thanks to that one delicious slice with those cheese strands on it. Or that slice that leaves a trail of truffle oil behind.

Hey, what time is it? Is someone already ready with the Uber Eats app for an order? That steamed pumpkin can wait for another time.
