Mindhunter season 2: The trailer and everything you want to know

Check, check, double check: the trailer for Mindhunter season 2 is out and you can check it below. Finally, I say, guys. Just a huge throwback, season 1 aired in 2017, about two years ago now. Good job, Netflix, take your time, really. It's not like we were eagerly waiting for it or anything. Nah, not at all. And it's not a problem at all that the second season also has eight episodes instead of the ten we got in the first season. Pfff. Okay, done complaining now, because the trailer looks really good, so let's focus on that for a moment. Let's stay a bit positive. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, that kind of thing.

I myself am a big true crime lover. It is quite a dubious hobby, but I can really keep reading about it endlessly. Most of the time I read about more recent cases, but I had definitely heard of the Atlanta Child Murders. And it should be known: in a span of two years, from 1979 to 1981, 28 people of color were murdered (mostly children, hence the ‘name’). The police were faced with a big mystery, because those 28 murders had to be connected. Unfortunately, they quickly hit a dead end, or rather: there was no trail at all.

As in the first season, FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench try to catch the perpetrator by creating a profile. This way they can figure out what the next step will be that he/she will take, they want to get ahead of him/her. Interestingly, the real Atlanta Child Murderer was actually caught this way; the police predicted that he would dispose of his next body in a river, and so it happened. This allowed them to identify his car, and DNA from multiple victims was found in that car. Case closed.

But the Atlanta Child Murders is not the only crime featured in Mindhunter season 2. They also cover Charles Manson, who, I guess, doesn't really need an introduction anymore. A fun fact is that this criminal is played by Damon Herriman, who in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (yes, with Leo and Brad) plays the same criminal. Apparently, he is really cut out for this role, although I wouldn't necessarily take that as a compliment.

When can we plan another binge day? Quite soon, actually, on August 16. Of course, there's a chance that you are just setting up your tent at Lowlands then, but coming home tired knowing that you don't have to get up for the next eight hours; I think it's a great plan. Mindhunter is a perfect remedy for your Lowlands dip. Or just a weekend dip, that works too, of course.
