Monica Geuze confesses: this is the reason why she and Lars have broken up

Is it just me or did it come a bit out of the blue? Call me naïve, but in my head, Mo and Lars were fully enjoying the pink baby cloud called Zara-Lizzy, but last week it was revealed that the two are putting an end to it.

‘This is something that has been going on for a while,’ she explains. ‘Partly due to the house, we were able to make this decision.’ The new house would be twice as expensive as the previous one and that would bring risks. ‘That forces you to think better about your relationship,’ says Monica. ‘I don’t think it’s necessary to go into detail. Things haven’t been right between us for a while. It’s not like we decided overnight to stay together or break up.’

According to her, she and Lars did everything to make the relationship work. ‘The first year as new parents is incredibly tough. Since last December or January, we have been in couples therapy. That’s something you’d rather not admit. Actually, it helped us quite a bit at the time, but we noticed that we quickly fell back into old patterns and we just didn’t make each other happy.’
