Must visit: the pink lake in Australia

lake hillier

If you feel the need to add a bit of pink to your social media, then I have a fitting destination for you. Go to Australia (you definitely want to do this at least once in your life, believe me) and visit Lake Hillier, a bright pink lake on the west coast. The lake is only a few meters from the sea, but it is about ten times saltier than the ocean. The pink color has been studied endlessly, but scientists do not have a real answer. It probably has to do with certain bacteria that cause the discoloration of the water. Swimming is allowed, but you do run the risk of your eyes stinging a bit. So maybe you should just stick to a photo and head to the coast for a refreshing dip.
