Save yourself the trouble

About 98 percent don't achieve the good intentions they set in January - especially when it comes to dieting.

I don't have particularly many bad habits, except that I hate exercising and love chocolate and chips.

How happy I was that my annual gym membership had expired: I was no longer allowed to go to pilates! What a disaster! What a drama! There was always an excuse not to renew it. And now it's been half a year since I hung in that downward dog, so it doesn't matter anymore. Look, I could rediscover exercising in January, but science teaches me that it's not necessary. Thank goodness. Because starting with those good intentions is pretty pointless, it turns out. Especially in January you might as well not.

About 98 percent don't achieve the good intentions they set in January – especially when it comes to dieting. That's because we just think: hey, I want to be a bit slimmer in the new year. But we have no clue how to tackle that, and that's why we forget it around January 19 and are back to munching on chocolate bars. At least 83 percent of people still believe in those intentions; they all think it will be a success. Painful but unfortunately: you might as well do something else., What experts say helps is to make your goal concrete instead of very big. For example, think of an intention like: I will exercise for an hour every Monday evening after work. Then you get further than when you just think: I want to move more. Only 17 percent manage to lose a bit of weight or just.

exercise a bit more in a new year, so stick to this rule. Make your goal something tangible: you will go for a walk twice a week, you will always take the stairs at work from now on, and you will do a plank for a minute next to your bed every night before sleeping. There you go, you make something very vague very clear. Go for it, okay? I think I'll join again around April. A heavily pregnant body with twins inside doesn't want to bend in the gym. Very, very unfortunate about that pilates, yes. But that chocolate and chips are still just fine, in case you're worried.
