The letter from Meghan to her father

For those who always think that the life of a princess is the highest achievable, think again. And now a bit deeper. Because being a princess does not bring out the best in everyone. Exhibit number 143 is the beautiful and painful letter that Meghan wrote to her father and which her father naturally showed to the whole world. And oh, how I pity her.

The core of her story is that she counters all the criticism her father has of her. He says he can never reach her. Counterargument: I have the same mobile number. I hear nothing from you. No text message, no missed call, nothing.

He says that she has never helped him financially. Counterargument: In October you still wrote me an email saying that you leaned on me too much financially.

He says in the press that he loves her so much. Counterargument: If you love me as much as you say in the press, then let us live our lives. Especially Harry, see how patient and understanding he has been with you and what mean things you say about him.

Meghan wrote a beautiful letter in which she wants to convey her disappointment and sadness to her father. It touched me. Especially the last paragraph.

For some reason you choose to continue fabricating these stories, manufacturing this fictitious narrative and entrenching yourself deeper into this web you’ve spun. The only thing that helps me sleep at night is the faith and knowing that a lie can’t live forever.’

‘I believed you, I trusted you, and told you I loved you. The next morning the CCTV footage came out. You haven’t reached out to me since the week of our wedding, and while you claim to have no way of contacting me, my phone number has remained the same. This you know. No texts, no missed calls, no outreach from you – just more global interviews you’re being paid to do to say harmful and hurtful things that are untrue.’

And then comes the response from her father filled with exclamation marks.

‘You can hate me if you want. I can’t force you. I made a big mistake… I’m human and I’m sorry! How much longer must I say it?? I wish we could get together and take a photo for the whole world to see. If you and Harry don’t like it? Fake it for one photo.

Another photo. For the outside world. What story does he want to tell with that? That he has been received in grace? What is the point of a photo if it does not rhyme with reality? Or is there again a gossip magazine waving a bag of money at his door? I have tried for a while to reach Thomas Markle, but now I think I can only sigh and hope that Meghan gets extra cuddles from Harry tonight.
