The surrogate mother of Kim Kardashian is giving birth

With my girlfriends, I sent out random messages around the due date. If they didn't respond for about an hour and a half, I thought I knew for sure, which of course wasn't the case, because then they suddenly replied that they were getting a mani-pedi or were out to lunch with a mother-in-law. Bummer. I only managed to get it out of them once. Out of six kids, a pretty poor score indeed. But this week it suddenly seems to be a trend to announce that you are in labor. What’s up with that?
I always get a nice call or a photo via the app that the little one in question has arrived. Name, time, how many grams (I'm better with kilos, by the way). But this week seems to be different. Just now, the message came in that Kim Kardashian's surrogate is in labor, a.k.a. having contractions, a.k.a. pushing, a.k.a. well, you get it. The royals also officially informed the public that Meghan Markle was ‘in labour’ – by then little Archie of course had already been born for a while, but still.
It seems to me quite a thing if the grandparents are already waiting in the hallway while you are just puffing through the last contraction, let alone that the whole world is aware that you are in labor. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like it takes away a bit of the magic of a birth. Not that I don't think bringing a child into the world is a noteworthy achievement, because that is the greatest ever, but do we really need to know that this is happening right now? I sense a trend, but I'm not entirely sure if we want it to stick.
P.S.: As soon as the little one has arrived, you will of course hear about it immediately.
