This new series will definitely be the new La Casa de Papel

Girl watching Netflix on a wicker chair with a white sheet

Since the (gigantic) success of La Casa de Papel Netflix seems to be increasingly focusing on Spanish-language series. Don't hear me complaining further, because my terrible Spanish is getting a little boost from this, but above all, they are really great series. Now, for convenience, I'm going to assume that you, like me, are completely caught up with La Casa de Papel. That also means there's room for a new series. Bienvenido La Victima Numero Ocho.

Because that's the name of the latest Netflix hit to be, of which the first season is now available. Eight episodes. In terms of plot and storyline, it doesn't have much to do with La Casa de Papel but in terms of binge-worthiness and addiction, it is completely on the same level. In La Victima Numero Ocho, a Spanish village is hit by an attack, resulting in the deaths of seven people. The suspected perpetrator is caught, but soon there is a lot of doubt about whether this is indeed the person they are looking for.

The female agent leading the investigation is therefore faced with a tough task, where ultimately no one trusts each other anymore. Honestly: it is really an exciting series. In terms of tension level, I think it is on par with La Casa de Papel (which has become a bit of the benchmark for many series). At least give the first episode a chance; I was quite quickly hooked. Each episode lasts just over fifty minutes, so we can keep going.

I also have a really nice PS for you, by the way. Again in the Spanish, binge-watchable corner. Vis a Vis turned out to be a real hit on Netflix, or the Spanish version of Orange is the New Black. I understood that it became a hit, but I didn't expect Netflix to be in such a hurry about it. Totally fine, by the way, don't get me wrong. Season 4 is also conveniently coming out on September 25. And this is while season 3 just went online last Friday. Love this pace, Netflix.
