This wine app you need

Are you standing in the supermarket in front of the wine shelf, having no idea which bottle goes well with your fish or bruschetta? Do you know it? I do. And just staring at all those little wine houses on the label. The result is that I always end up walking out with the same bottle. That doesn't have to happen anymore, because our friends from online food magazine FavorFlav present to you and me the solution.
That animals score well on wine is nothing new. Especially among women. They feel, as research has shown multiple times, much more attracted to an animal on the label than to a more traditional variant with a posh chateau on it. With men, this works exactly the opposite. At Tussock Jumper (available at Jumbo), the animals on the label come to life.
Beastly good idea
And not just to make wine more fun – although that is certainly the case. The app does have a function, namely to make it easier for you when you are standing in front of an overcrowded wine shelf. Especially if your wine knowledge doesn't go beyond the basics (and hey, that's fine!) making a choice is quite a difficult task. Animals to the rescue!
The animals of Tussock Jumper (each bottle features a different animal, always wearing the same red sweater) take you into their virtual world. They ‘jump’ out of the label and tell you about the origin of the wine and what you can eat with it. You do this by downloading the Tussock Jumper Wine app on your phone. Then scan the label and the animal comes to life.
We put it to the test with the Tussock Jumper Pinot Grigio. This wine comes from the northern Italian region where Romeo and Juliet secretly declared their love for each other, Veneto. It is an easy-going people's friend with a crisp freshness. Packed with aromas and flavors of fresh green apples and juicy pears. Take a sip and you taste the Italian life.
What do we eat with it? According to the app, Pinot Grigio, among other things due to its refreshing acids, is extremely suitable for dishes featuring shellfish and crustaceans. We made an irresistible spaghetti alle vongole with it. Just like sweethearts Romeo and Juliet: a match made in heaven!
