We find funny people more attractive faster

Everyone has a certain image in their head of what their ideal partner should be like. Some have a full A4 sheet of points, while others keep it a bit shorter. In any case, we all have a set of requirements. Rightly so, of course. I think one requirement for everyone is that the person must be attractive, and not necessarily because you want them to be a top model. No, I think the right person must be attractive to YOU. That varies greatly from person to person, but according to many studies, there is one point that unanimously contributes to someone's attractiveness: humor. Yes, if someone makes you laugh so hard you almost pee your pants, you want to run to the altar immediately. Sort of.

Interestingly, this varies greatly between men and women. Women are much more susceptible to this and find a funny person significantly more attractive. This is thought to be because we see funny people as more social and intelligent. And those are traits we instinctively look for in a suitable partner, which is why women are more romantically interested in a funny guy. Well, I can relate to that. I often find myself funny, but that doesn't seem to work as well with men.

Men find it much less important whether their partner can make them laugh. Not completely unimportant, of course, but it is less related to how attractive they find the potential partner. So you can make jokes all you want with your prey, the chances are that it won't make a difference. Although it can never hurt, of course. Detail: men do like it when jokes are made about them. So you don't necessarily have to be the comedian, but men generally prefer that we see them as the funniest men on earth.

Last but not least: it can also work the other way around. When women find someone absolutely not funny, their attractiveness also plummets. So if you're not quite sure if you come across well with your jokes, it's better not to take the risk. It's never good, you know.
