What a woman Bibi Breijman is

What a woman Bibi Breijman is

Bibi Breijman, you know her. If not from Oh Oh Cherso, then from her vlogs or because she fell in love with singer Waylon. Yesterday she did something brave, something I give her a standing ovation for. She read aloud the hateful comments she receives on social media, to combat online bullying.

“You are a bad example for humanity,” is one of them. My god, I don't even know what to say to that. I mean: to be a bad example for all of humanity, you must have really messed up? As in: dictatorially messed up. Right? “You are nothing, you can do nothing, will never become anything,” is another one. I skip the part where she is insulted because it is too much. Just too much to repeat, in a way that makes my coffee a little upset. How dare you say this to another human being? To judge what she is and isn’t, without ever having looked at her? Correction: even if you had looked at someone. I can do nothing but sputter a bit because I just don’t believe what I hear.

The internet is officially the drain where you can apparently say whatever you want. Maybe it’s good to consider that there is a person with feelings on the other side of the screen, in this case Bibi. A beautiful, cool woman of twenty-eight, mother of a breathtaking girl who isn’t even one year old yet. Bibi, who dared to admit online that she had a burnout, to actually help other young women. And who now comes in by reading the hate comments aloud and even says sorry for their language, even though it was about her. I’m just a bit speechless.
