Wow, Undercover becomes reality at Holiday Park Arnhem
Okay, the chances are high that you, just like half of the Netherlands, have seen Undercover on Netflix. I myself am a big true-crime fan, so I asked the online oracle called Google what exactly is true and not true in this series. Well, quite a lot actually happened, only the real Undercover couple was on the mission for a year and a half. One and a half years. Holy moly, then you are really committed. I hope they at least became employee of the month once. But yes, successful indeed, because Mr. Drug Baron was eventually caught. In the series, that happened during their wedding, in real life it was during their engagement party. The real spectacle actually took place in a bungalow park in the Belgian Mol, in case you want to play your own Undercover vacation park. Zilverstrand Holiday Park, to be precise.
Or you can also just go to Holiday Park Arnhem nowadays. Yes, you read that right; There has also been a real Undercover operation there as we speak. Again, two agents posing as a couple (can we check what Anna Drijver and Tom Waes have been up to lately?), for two months. With hidden cameras, they kept everything secretly under observation. And here too, success was achieved, as dozens of people were kicked out of the park. No gigantic drug deal was intercepted, but several things were discovered that were not entirely kosher. For example, a resident was extorted by a motorcycle club and also quite taken advantage of by them.
In total, about twenty permanent residents had to pack their things, much to the delight of the other visitors. They say that there is already less hassle, mess, and arguments at the holiday park now.
What I find most juicy about all this is that the owner of Holiday Park Arnhem is the same owner as Holiday Park Zilverstrand. People, that can't be a coincidence, right? The only two times that Undercover operations are carried out at holiday parks (or the only two times we hear about it) in the Netherlands. The FIOD has since seized the owner's administration, but he is not afraid of anything. Peter Gillis says: ‘They can label me as a criminal, but there is nothing going on. I have nothing to hide.’
