Finally: on this date you can binge-watch season 3 of Designated Survivor

a scene from the Netflix series Designated Survivor Kirkman and his wife

Look, some series just have to end. Usually about one or two seasons after it really stops being fun (it remains everyone's guilty pleasure, but Grey’s Anatomy is this stage really over, right?), or while it could just as well have never ended (like Friends). And some series are abruptly cut off for no reason, like Designated Survivor. Everyone I talked to about it back then was raving about it, as in: ‘OMG, you have to watch this’. I followed this advice slash order, and they pull the plug. Great then. Luckily, there was a savior Netflix who does have faith in season number 3. Joy all around. Now even more joy all around, because the release date has been announced: June 7 should be marked in your calendar. And of course binge the whole season right away (which couldn't be done with the previous network, yay for Netflix).

They started filming in October 2018, so they managed to get that done at quite a brisk pace. Because besides the fact that Netflix had bought the rights to the series, they also took over the entire production. And all the familiar faces are fortunately back. Except... don't watch if you haven't seen season two, the First Lady. She actually bit the dust in season 2. But everyone is of course most excited to see Kiefer Sutherland back as President Tom Kirkman.

One small difference with the previous seasons, and probably a downside for many, is the number of episodes. They have been shortened from 22 to 10. But hey, better than no season at all, right? Exactly, so no complaining.

If you haven't seen anything of Designated Survivor yet, then I'm going to address you the same way I was addressed. OMG, you have to watch this. And you still have quite a long ride ahead, because the first two seasons are ready for you on Netflix (which indeed count over 20 episodes). Seems like a great alternative for when you, for example, don't like King's Day . It's going to be bad weather anyway, so a day of Netflix & chill doesn't seem like a punishment to me. Maybe I'll skip Willie's B-day bash too.
