Your drunk personality is according to experts the real you

You always think: oh, but if I've had a wine or three, sorry, then I'm not myself anymore.

Then I order those too expensive and too hysterical golden boots without thinking about it. Then I dance on the table in a too short glitter dress. Then I honestly say what I think of my friend's relationship. But what turns out? Your drunk personality is actually just the real you.

You might think that you suddenly become looser, different, more confident, more exciting. But nothing could be further from the truth. You are just yourself – you are a drink or two in just yourself.

How was this researched? Through a great study. People were placed in a room and some were given Sprite and some were given Sprite with a secret shot of vodka in it. In other words: some gradually became drunk and others did not. The drunk individuals were a bit more extroverted and a bit less anxious, but there weren't actually many more differences to see. This is mainly because this was tested in a scientific setting and not in a busy restaurant, a karaoke bar, or a club. And the participants were not surrounded by friends: they were surrounded by other strangers. And then it turns out that those drunken fun is not that bad. The setting is often what causes you to behave differently, to act exaggeratedly, to scream, laugh, and chatter. You do that with your friends and not so quickly with strangers, drunk or not.

So you see: alcohol can do a lot, but it’s mainly your friends with whom you toast that make your evening. And who make you order those golden boots. Oops.
