8 major turn-offs when WhatsApping

turn-offs WhatsApp

Not that I'm still dating, but I did it once, 120 years ago. And I'm surrounded by nice people (hi Stel, hey Wiek) who practice digital dating extensively. I asked them for the biggest turn-offs when it comes to romantic WhatsApping.

1. Spelling your name wrong
That's at least the least you can do. And please do it with a capital letter, thank you.

2. Letting them respond
So yes, a blue checkmark means read, but responding: no way. That's really bloody annoying. In my time (you know, when the Sony pop-up phone was still cool) you only had SMS and you couldn't see if someone had read it, so someone could still get away with the excuse that their battery was dead. But now... At least turn off that blue checkmark.

3. Only emoticons
So I'm definitely not the president of the emoticon fan club, but I hear from my dating colleagues that men who only respond with emoticons should just leave.

4. Or only photos
A photo of the glass of wine they've poured, of the fire they've made. Yeah, nice and easy. And you definitely send that to Anna, Marte, and Monique too? Bye, it's not that easy.

5. Language mistakes
Okay, we all make a typo or language mistake sometimes, but if there's no period or comma and it's a jumble of words... We don't find that very sexy.

6. An overly vain profile picture
Know: it's forbidden to take a self-absorbed selfie as a profile picture. In general, if you want to emphasize your greatness, it's better not to take self-absorbed selfies.

7. Existing taglines
With the top spot on the list of silly taglines: ‘at the gym’ or ‘at the movies’. Choose something that suits you or the work you do. Then we suddenly find it nice.

8. Nicknames that don't suit you
That you suddenly get called ‘hey girl’ or ‘hey babe’.

So, nice types out there, you know what you (don't) need to do if you want to score points with our girls.
