8 x why ironing is the new walking

Ironing

Search on Google for something about ironing and you will find: why ironing is outdated, also such a hatred for ironing and other nonsense. Nowhere is the love for the ironing phenomenon celebrated.

So I do like ironing. I'm the type who even gives the socks a quick press with my steam iron and also does underwear and towels. Just because I'm already at it. So in order to turn all that ironing negativity on Google a bit around, I will blow the trumpet for ironing.

1. It clears your mind
I was sad the other day and it was raining like crazy too. So I went to the living room with a bulging basket of clean laundry. An hour later, the sadness wasn't gone, but it was a lot more bearable. The constant movement where you literally smooth out the fold somewhere, clears your mind.

2. You enjoy it for a long time
I have a linen closet with glass panes. Every time I walk past it and see those neat stacks, I feel really pleased with myself.

3. It sleeps well
A pressed duvet cover and fitted sheet... Oh la la.

4. You make others happy with it
A stack of neatly folded shirts in your closet, there's love in that.

5. You have overview
Because everything is neatly in your closet, you see much better what you have.

6. You make a tidy impression
A pressed T-shirt is just a bit nicer to look at than a crumpled one.

7. You can't do anything else
No lighting a cigarette, no drinking a glass of wine. Really, ironing is just a great tool to help you get rid of a bad habit.

8. And oh yes
It's also a lovely moment to listen to that podcast. AirPods in and go.

So I'm telling you: ironing is the new to catch that bus. Your colleague with size 36 may naturally be much more active without spending hours in the gym.
