A low voice works in your favor

“Haaa Katja”, I still hear that sometimes. Not because of my looks, but because of my somewhat hoarse voice, which especially comes into its own when I've celebrated a small party the weekend before. Besides being hoarse, my voice is also quite low, which I didn't always find very nice and girly when I was younger, but I now know that it can also work to my advantage.

Now I read somewhere that the bigger the animal, the lower the sound it produces. I didn't really want to go down that road, but a lower voice is indeed linked to having more impact. In fact: 40 percent of the first impression is determined by your voice. So you can dress as cute as you want: if your sound doesn't come across well, it's a shame for you.

It's not that if you naturally have a high voice you have no chance, according to voice experts it mainly depends on how you use your voice. It has to do with your low vocal range and using your voice in this frequency. You get more done when you use your voice this way; men with a low voice even have a higher salary, research shows. This has not been proven in the case of women.

For women, of course (it wouldn't be otherwise) there is still a catch. Both men and women find women more attractive when their voice is slightly higher, and that has everything to do with your cycle and fertility. At the moment a woman is at her most fertile, her voice is just a bit higher than normal. You can't help it, although it can all be trained. A woman only needs to lower her voice just a little bit to make an impression.

A lot can be heard from a voice. You can even discover who wants to be liked by someone, because it is likely that this person adjusts their voice to the conversation partner. By the way, it still works, because we indeed find people who have the same voice sound as us nicer.
