Applause for Famke Louise

When I saw the #idontwanttoparticipateanymore-campaign pass by, I thought oops. That was followed by a firm ‘ouch’ when I saw Famke Louise sitting at JINEK. That ‘ouch’ was quickly replaced by a ‘oh, poor girl’. The crumpled paper, the blinking eyelid combined with the otherwise expressionless face. All of that was completed with a hilarious but quite painful LuckyTV for Famke and then it was over. So I thought.
But Famke came, saw, and conquered. She posted an extensive text on her Instagram account explaining how it all came to this. Something about being a bit too enthusiastic, not delving enough into the subject, not having the right people around her at the right time saying: “You know, I would let this pass you by”, but still a tremendous straight back and a very high put-your-money-where-your-mouth-is level. That’s how it came to be that she was sitting there. Very nervous, not very skilled, and quite unprepared. She could have done better, because in the end she did take corona seriously, but it frustrated her that the young people, who are not at risk, have to give up so much. She apologized, promised to improve, and took a step back.
That step back lasted only a moment, because there she was heading towards.
our favorite Diederik Gommers . He did what he promised: he explained to her how it works. With corona, the risk of infection, and her role in it. “I know about the disease, you know about media.” So there they were yesterday. At JINEK. Still nervous but definitely a lot less. Famke had gained respect for the care and the approach. And she is going to commit to it. With Diederik. Without being paid for it. At the end of the broadcast, she thanked Eva Jinek. For the seat at the table.. Famke, if anyone should hold a special chair at the faculty of communication, it’s you as far as I’m concerned. Or at least a regularly returning guest lecturer. Well done, girl.
