Best news of the week: Costa! is on Netflix

YAAAA, that's a nice way to start the week. Dutch gem Costa! is now on Netflix. All. Four. Seasons. No joke. It's on there NOW. And yes, I'm very happy about it. Because how genius is Costa!? The movie is really a joy to watch (and I think it's on Videoland if you want to complete your entire Costa! session). The series was on TV fifteen years ago and if possible, it's only gotten better. Or worse. The ideal hate-watching series.

Okay, let's do a little throwback to the year 2001. Salou was the place to be, because why not? Everyone wanted to go here in the summer. Or well, at least Janet, Rens, and Björn were impossible to miss. In other words Katja Schuurman, Kurt Rogiers and Daan Schuurmans. For four seasons, they were living it up out there. Okay, it's not a scene from the series but from the movie, but how iconic is that scene where Daan Schuurmans storms out of the club by kicking the door in? A-ma-zing.

It's also nice that Bridget Maasland pops by for a look, and Elise Schaap even (who was still completely unknown back then). Anna Drijver wasn't averse to a little vacation in Salou either, as we see her parading on the beach. Sylvie Meis, almost unrecognizable with her looks from the TMF days, also comes to take a peek.

In the category ‘oh-yeah-what-happened-to-them’ I present you with regular roles for Bas Muijs and Joey van der Velden. I was like pretty much every teenager a subscriber to Hitkrant where Joey often appeared, and oh, I thought he was so handsome. What happened to him? Strange that such a top role in Costa! didn't open all doors for him.

Anyway, this is really great news, right? I think I'm going to have a Costa-themed night. Dress up nice and tacky and whip up the wrong (and super sweet) cocktails. Just make sure to the film watch beforehand, because the series misses one highlight: Michiel. Huisman. He's barely in it. Isn't it time for a Costa! reunion? That they're still partying at the disco or something? Sounds super fun.
