Birthday in October: here are 7 quite festive options

In March, I wasn't that busy with my birthday yet, because October 31 was still 100 years away. But now that it's suddenly October, I also have to think about the alternative birthday celebration. A night away was the first plan, but Rutte started talking again on Monday about keeping our travel movements small. Are you also celebrating your birthday this month? I'm thinking along with you.

1. A night away in your own region
We keep the travel movements small, but away is still away, even if you're at the end of the street. That's why it's an excellent plan to book an overnight stay in your own region (that I would ever call this) . I just googled ‘hotels in Gooi and Vechtstreek’ and I'm still hesitating between Boutique Hotel De Nederlanden and the Bellevue in Blaricum for my birthday party. If you do a bit of good research, you'll also find all kinds of nice packages with dinner included. Hooray.

2. Tickling yourself
Start the day with a good hour at your favorite beauty salon (this is mine in Amsterdam) , treat yourself to new birthday clothes and then go have lunch with someone from your household. Then book a time slot in a luxury cinema to finally, open the very best wine and have a cheese cake (!) delivered. Just pay attention to how birthday you are. 3. Eat star-worthy.

This also fits seamlessly with point 1 or 2. I don't know how you usually celebrate your birthday, but I always do it a bit extravagantly and exaggeratedly. For example, I once organized a 24-hour drink, true story. Due to the cancellation of visits, you keep a nice sum in the proverbial bag, which you can spend perfectly at a star-worthy establishment. But I repeat: in your own region and with a maximum of four people.
4. The birthday drive-thru.

Take a seat in the doorway with a good glass of wine (and a warm sweater) and let all your friends and family pass by. You feel very birthday, you can wave to all your favorite people and receive congratulations, and with a bit of luck, you get gifts and they, of course, a candy bag for home.
5. Invite three of your dearest friends.

Fortunately, you can still have some visitors on top of your own household. Throw a small one-and-a-half-meter party for three of your favorites. Do go all out, so don't hesitate to buy a confetti cannon for yourself or your friends. And even a juggler in the front yard is allowed; you may (hopefully) only not celebrate your birthday for real once.
6. Book a ticket for later.

You are free to treat yourself today. Of course, an apple pie is tasty, but what about a train ticket or a ticket for later when the travel restrictions are a bit more relaxed? You'll be happy with that on your birthday and later too.
7. A gift every hour of the day.

This is more of a tip to delight the birthday person, so if I were you as the birthday person, I would forward this list to friends and family. Because being birthday during the corona crisis is just a bit different than usual, the birthday person should be spoiled with Jetten and Jopjes. I introduce: the gift marathon. With something nice every hour, from a gift card via app to a serenade under the window or a delivered snack board at the door. Make sure the birthday person feels a little more birthday every hour.
celebrate birthday.
