Coffee brewing talk: everything you need to know this morning

Susan and Freek Miljuschka and Reese Witherspoon

The Marrakech drama of Anouk is still not over, the first song for all caregivers in the Netherlands is a fact and in times of crisis we can suddenly all do it: be kind to one another. Good morning stay-at-homers, this is what you want to know today.

You want to hear the song by Suzan & Freek now
For all the heroes in healthcare. ‘Last night, just like the rest of our street, we stood clapping with a lump in our throat for everyone in healthcare & all the other people who keep the Netherlands upright. Last night we couldn't sleep and we wrote this song about it,’ the two write on Instagram. ‘I stay home for you’. Goosebumps.

Brrr: Anouk is still stranded in empty resort in Marrakech
One moment you casually book a ticket to Marrakech to get inspired and write songs for four days, the next moment everyone leaves your resort, you can’t leave anymore and you are kind of well… stranded. In a video on her Instagram Stories, Anouk shares that she is still the only one left in the resort where she is staying. It seemed for a moment that she could go home via Paris, but that plan is now off the table. ‘I did have a bit of a light panic attack last night. It was suffocating too. But I think that comes from the tension of everything,’ she says on Instagram. ‘I am also a bit afraid for my own health, especially since I have severe asthma. It’s not really smart to go into a hotbed of people at an airport. It’s all a bit scary.’

Reese Witherspoon talks for the first time about intense youthd
For years keeping your mouth shut about something and then feeling compelled to be honest for the first time. When asked if it is dangerous for a child to work in a world mainly inhabited by adults, Reese answers this week: ‘Some unpleasant things happened to me. I was ‘harassed’, to put it that way.’ Reese immediately faced the necessary criticism. ‘Recently a journalist asked me why I hadn’t spoken about this earlier. I found that quite something. While I tried to be open about it, I actually got accused of having to do it much earlier. Everyone tells their story at a time they wish. When you are ready for it and not earlier. What I found the worst is that the journalist later called me selfish in her article because I only came out with it now.’

And in times of crisis, something beautiful also happens: we help each other more than ever
For example, Kaj Gorgels cooks a gigantic pot of pasta for the homeless shelter, Carolien Spoor slips notes through the mailbox of her elderly neighbors asking if she can help with groceries, and Miljuschka Witzenhausen shares on Instagram that she is working with partners on the development of a food box with local producers to support the hospitality entrepreneurs. #supportyourlocals Honestly: we should also applaud this instead of just writing about the hoarding.
