Creative corona initiatives

Now that a large part of the Netherlands is at home, the feeling of solidarity to help others is increasing. For some people, it is not possible to go outside. The Netherlands is bursting with initiatives to help others. VrouwenZaken highlighted these fun initiatives to survive quarantine.

Calling lonely people
For many vulnerable people, staying at home is a lonely period, visits to others must be minimized as much as possible. Do you want to give someone a little support and have a (telephone) chat? Through the website kro-ncrv.nl/corona you can leave your details if you want to call someone (or want to be called yourself).

Enjoying yoga
Gyms are closed until further notice. To still get your daily recommended exercise, many gyms offer an online sports program so you can meditate at home to clear your mind during these bizarre times. On Instagram and YouTube, you can also find various yoga pros who will guide you through a nice yoga session online. Want to work up a sweat? Then Google sports programs from (famous) gyms.

Support your neighbors
Taking the neighbor's dog out for a walk who prefers not to leave the house anymore? Let your neighbors know in the neighborhood app or through notes that you are there for them. Running an errand is also done quickly. Have you taken apart your 1000-piece puzzle three times and can you now do it with your eyes closed? Lend it to a neighbor for a new daily activity.

Is your neighbor now working from home with three young children? Watch her kids for an afternoon so she can also meet her targets. You can also babysit so (young) parents can do their shopping and don’t have to watch their children. And of course, we lovingly take care of the children of people in healthcare.

Meals from (top) restaurants delivered to your home
Through various ordering sites, you can now also dine at home at a star level. For example, restaurant RIJKS has created a special menu so you can taste haute cuisine at home. To see if your favorite restaurant also delivers at home, it’s best to check the websites and social media channels. Tip: give a tip online in the app to the delivery person now that it is no longer possible to pay in cash.

Are you a kitchen princess yourself? Then make some extra portions to share with your (vulnerable) neighbors so they don’t have to leave the house.

What have you done to help your fellow human beings?
