Will YOU get a third season and what will happen next with Joe?

Before you continue reading: this piece is packed with spoilers from the second season of YOU, so if you haven't started it yet (how?) or if you haven't finished it yet (actually again: how?)... Stop. Now. With. Reading. Because I need to talk to you about Joe, Will, Dan Humphrey or whatever he will go by in season 3. Because that third season, yes yes: it certainly seems like it's coming. In fact: if it’s up to the creators, there will also be a fourth season. And a fifth. Showrunner Sera Gamble is at least optimistic about it, but she does add: ‘We don’t have an official pick-up at this moment.‘ Logical, since that second season just came out at Christmas. I'm not worried yet.

And Sera Gamble herself isn't either, because she claims to have already thought about what season 3 should look like. ‘We want something a bit more suburban, an insular world where Joe will be like a fish in water.’ We already saw that suburban vibe a bit in the very last seconds of the second season. A pregnant Love, Joe as a future househusband... Nah, that can't last long, of course.

And then that neighbor, huh. Who could that be? The internet has already figured it out, because according to them, we are dealing with Joe's mother. Incest? That is in itself a topic (one of the few) that YOU has not yet dared to tackle. That it would really be Joe's mother, I can still see that happening. But then? Will that be the new dream team that travels through the US committing murders with a different name every month? Honestly: I would watch that, immediately. Anyway, I dare to bet that Love won't be around for long, because Joe/Will/Dan Humphrey will be done with her in no time – especially now that it turns out she was something else (or just as sick as he is) than he thought.

Finally, a few fun Easter eggs from the second season, because Forty (R.I.P.) was actually smarter than he came across, he had already figured out that Peach didn't commit suicide. When he and Joe are tripping in the hotel room trying to write a script, you can see on the whiteboard that he notes that Peach was murdered. A good detective then, although he thought it was Dr. Nicky who killed her. Also fun: in the last episode, you see Joe flipping through his mail and receiving a letter from Ellie. That's not the only mail: there's also a card from the real Will asking if everything is okay with Joe — he hasn't heard from him in so long. Um, Stockholm syndrome much? I don't know if I would want to keep in touch with the man who held me captive in a glass cage. Will we see that glass cage again in season 3? It can't be any other way? Love has spent way too few hours in there. I predict that she will become the new prisoner. And what will that child be named? For a girl: Serena. For a boy: Dan. Oh come on?
