Doutzen and her not-so-smart Instagram post

Oeiii, Doutzen… That’s not very smart. She made an Instagram post over the weekend with a, to put it nicely, peculiar video. With the title ‘Be grateful, stay aware, things will never be the same again’. Okay, so far so understandable. But the video itself made no sense at all. The title of the video is ‘Thank you coronavirus’, which should say enough. A rather dubious title of course.

In the video, it is said that we should be especially grateful. Grateful for the fact that due to the coronavirus, the pollution of the earth is being countered, grateful for the fact that we are locked up with our loved ones and can therefore dance and laugh together, grateful that we are being taken out of our ‘busy-ness’, grateful for basically everything. Apparently, we should be very grateful for the coronavirus? Doutzen had momentarily forgotten that there are a huge number of people in hospitals and that, for example, Italy can no longer handle all the deceased in crematoria. Maybe people should also tell her that the virus originated from (probably) bats and not from Mother Earth.

As you can imagine, this video didn’t go down well and Doutzen deleted it after two hours. The damage was already done of course. Chiara Ferragni was also not very amused and made that known through her Stories. Doutzen came out yesterday with an apology in her own Stories and stated that she wants to be hopeful in these negative times. Look, I understand that in itself, but to express it with such a video is more like having a board for your head than being hopeful. That’s my opinion, but do watch the video yourself to decide for yourself.
