Drama, drama, drama on Netflix

The time of carefree living is overjjjjj… Nothing wrong with Good Times, Bad Times, but there’s such a nice romantic drama coming to Netflix this month. It’s called Sweet Magnolias and I really think that’s such a great name for a drama series. I mean, just hearing that name you know it’s going to be a tearjerker, right? And sweet (but that’s because of the word ‘sweet’, I think).
Next plus point, because you can’t get by with just a good name: it’s an adaptation of a book series. By the same author who wrote Chesapeake Shores, When Calls The Heart and… Drumroll… Virgin River. In other words, the latest addition to this genre on Netflix. I personally really enjoyed that one, so this can’t go wrong, right?
To make it even sweeter, Sweet Magnolias is set in the town of Serenity, where the main character Maddie lives with her two BFFs Dana and Helen. Maddie’s marriage is falling apart after twenty years, which is quite heavy for her. Understandably so, and extra ugly because the reason for her breakup is that her husband cheated on her with his twenty years younger assistant. How cliché, but how enjoyable.
So I expect a series about friendships, love, processing, and a lot of crying. And the very last plus point: author Sherryl Woods has written a total of eleven books about Sweet Magnolias. That’s really a lot more than has been written about Virgin River and Chesapeake Shores, and that also means (I think, right?) that this could be a very long run in terms of seasons. I say: absolutely prrrrrima.
So, weren’t you also glued to Virgin River? Then definitely check this out on May 19. I could use some super sweet romance and drama after watching series like Kalifat. Just dreaming away again, you know.
