Kalifat wants to be seen on Netflix today

Kalifat on Netflix

In a weekend, excuse me: a day, I binged the new Netflix dating series Too Hot To Handle and I felt like I had lost quite a few brain cells. Addictive series, mind you, with a high level of ordinariness and it’s easy to watch because I watched all eight episodes in one sitting, but to say that it’s high-quality material… Nah. I was definitely ready for something with a bit more quality after this. Recognizable? Then I have the right tip for you today. Kalifat.

A Swedish series that revolves around women who all get involved in some way with an IS attack in Sweden. Or rather, an attack that is still in the planning stages: they do everything they can to prevent this attack. Scandinavian series have always been a bit of a hit for me, just like Scandinavian books. They are just always really good. So the expectations were quite high before watching.

And those expectations were met, you know. What an awesome series. And incredibly exciting. The three main characters, Fatima, Sulle, and Pervin are all completely different women which also gives it a nice perspective. IMDb gives the series an 8.1 and I agree with that. I was really ready for something with a bit more meaning than men and women just frolicking in swimwear through a villa in Mexico. Although Too Hot To Handle was also a recommendation.

But Kalifat is one that you absolutely want to see. I heard many people sharing positive stories about it. Funny, because as far as I know, the series wasn’t really announced with much fanfare. It just appeared out of nowhere and it’s really great. So here’s that fanfare anyway: KALIFAT. WANT. YOU. TO. SEE. And it’s already online. Eight episodes, each about three quarters of an hour, are waiting for you as we speak. You’re welcome.
