Ellen Degeneres bursts into tears during broadcast

I watch and honestly get a lump in my throat. Ellen. That fun, always cheerful Ellen is suddenly not so fun anymore. Ellen showed her most human side yesterday during her talk show: the vulnerable one. During the recordings of her talk show on Monday, the 62-year-old Degeneres just found it a bit too heavy.

“Thank you all for being here. I appreciate that today even more than usual and more than I did yesterday. And tomorrow I will appreciate it even more than today, because life is short,” she says, visibly emotional in her show. “Yesterday was supposed to be a joyful day with a lot to celebrate.”

“But then we received tragic news about Kobe Bryant, after which everything changed. And that’s exactly what I want to talk about. Life is short and fragile, we don’t know how many birthdays we will have left. But we don’t need a birthday to celebrate something, just celebrate life.
