According to reports, Ellen had an emotional video meeting with her staff in which she promised to address the work atmosphere behind the scenes of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. And yes, there were tears. Ellen lamented that ‘in the well-oiled machine that the talk show has become, there has been too little attention for the human aspect.’ She also mentioned in the video meeting that everyone who works for the show – including herself – will receive training on inclusivity and diversity.
Oh, dear Ellen. We all get stuck in old patterns that may not be the best. You can't have eyes in the back of your head, but turning a blind eye is never good. Fortunately, you are now taking action. You informed your staff that three top managers will be fired. These were probably people you had a good relationship with, otherwise they wouldn't be in those positions. Cutting into your own flesh never feels good, but it was very necessary in your company. Look at it this way: realizing this now is the biggest gain you could take from this commotion.
This is good for you. On to a renewed top show and a pleasant work atmosphere where everyone feels accepted and valued. Can you achieve that as an employer? Then you truly deserve a thunderous applause after every episode.
