Good news: The Crown has finished filming earlier

Princess Diana and Prince Charles in Africa

With all the series and movie shoots on hold due to the coronavirus, this is some good news. It’s about time, right? I thought so too. Well, here’s the thing. The Crown, or the series I started binge-watching during quarantine, is coming with a new season. Season 4 already (I still need to catch up), and it’s actually ready earlier than expected. EARLIER. I didn’t see that coming.

Now it unfortunately doesn’t seem like it will actually be released earlier, so that’s a bit of a bummer, but the positive side is that at least it’s not being delayed – and that’s quite something in these times. Because Stranger Things, for example, is on hold and Riverdale too. So when a series just comes online on time, that’s already a lot. Oh, and Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher, I think that’s also quite something. Switching from her in The X-Files, her in Sex Education, and now her as Margaret Thatcher. That woman can really take on any role, I must say.

This season we will also see Diana and her romance with Charles — also very curious about that. Those actors have also been leaked: Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin will reenact their tour through Australia and the gigantic Royal Yacht Britannia will also make an appearance. Or well, I guess it’s a replica and a lot smaller.

Trailer? Nope, unfortunately not yet. Release date? Nope, not that either. Both a bit of a bummer, but we have to grab any good news during quarantine. And then I still have one last piece of good news… There’s going to be a fifth season, but that will also be the last. The creators initially thought there would be six seasons, but realized while writing season five that it would actually be the perfect ending. Well, nice, right? And what about us?
