What's going on with that OnlyFans?

Sometimes I really feel a bit like an old lady. I still absolutely don't understand how to put together a TikTok video (watching them is fine for me, that much is true) and Instagram Reels... Is that roughly the same concept? In other words, I don't understand that either. And what I also didn't understand is OnlyFans. A website, apparently, where I keep reading more and more things about.
And actually, it's: the more I read about it, the less I understand it. Their slogan is ‘make your influence pay’ and that's the whole concept: just like on Insta, you create an account where you can post photos and videos, and people can subscribe to your channel for a monthly fee. Yes, you have to pay for it.
Quite a few big names are on it: Cardi B for example, and recently Bella Thorne. There is a small difference between the two, because the subscription to Cardi B's channel is ‘only’ $4.99 per month, that of Bella $20. Cardi B uses her account to supposedly help spread gossip. Blac Chyna has also been on OnlyFans for a while and takes a bigger approach. ‘Fans’ have to pay $50 per month to see her content, but they do get the chance to FaceTime with her.
Oh sorry, that FaceTiming is indeed an extra service, at $950 per conversation. Sorry, but if you're a somewhat decent artist, you wouldn't engage in this kind of practice, would you? Especially if you have some young fans, for whom $50 a month is a lot of money. Let alone $950 for a FaceTime call. Asking so much money from mainly young fans I find quite intense.
But what OnlyFans is mostly used for and for which Bella Thorne also started it: sharing videos and photos that get kicked off Instagram because they would be too risky. For Bella, it was a huge success, that girl raked in over a million within a day. Now she is going to make an erotic film, after this success. Yes, the Disney days are officially completely over. To great criticism from other OnlyFans users: due to Bella's gigantic success, payments have been suspended and a maximum has been set on the Pay Per View costs - much to the dismay of users who rely on their income from this platform. The rumor is that this is because OnlyFans is going to have trouble paying Bella Thorne. They probably didn't see a million a day coming either.
I don't know, but I still find it all quite... Strange? That Bella Thorne also has a lot of young fans, from whom she is now asking to pay for her content. That sounds a bit weird to me, but of course, it's up to you what you want to spend your money on.
