Just about that

JUST ABOUT THAT

You probably haven't missed it: celebrities are angry. A large group of celebrities has therefore created the hashtag #ikdoenietmeermee to indicate that they are no longer participating. But what exactly are they not participating in?

The first #ikdoenietmeermee I saw was from Famke Louise, who posted a video on her Instagram saying: ‘Only together can we get the government under control. I’m not participating anymore. Free the people.’ Ahaaaa. A striking detail is that earlier this year Famke Louise was still seen in a paid campaign from the government, a corona campaign. But according to her, that doesn’t matter; if she disagrees with something, she can say so. The fact that she has done a paid campaign for the opposite goal doesn’t change that.

But Famke Louise is not the only one speaking out and joining the hashtag #ikdoenietmeermee. Tim Douwsma, Bizzey, Brace, Gers Pardoel, and Thomas Berge are also speaking out. The latter posted a video on Instagram with the same text as Famke Louise, but with a bit more explanation in the caption. ‘We want clarity. We are not crazy. We have had to watch how we are getting further behind over the past six months. Therefore, we demand honesty and transparency.’ For convenience, Thomas Berge has actually turned off his comments under this post. Because that honesty and transparency he demands are apparently not open to comment?

Bizzey has also indicated that he will no longer participate and is speaking out against the government. This same Bizzey called on the NOW scheme and received over 18,000 euros. From the government. Yesterday he said on the radio that this action did not have a financial reason and that we should not worry about his financial situation. Unfortunately, he did not mention that he has indeed benefited from the government measures.

‘That’s not what it’s about. What it’s about: I feel that many things are not right now. I have so many questions, which makes me feel like some power game is being played,’ Bizzey said in that same conversation on the radio. What exactly is not right is not told by him. But those questions, he can ask them soon. Hugo de Jonge has said that they are all welcome at his office to discuss this. I really hope this conversation is made public.

Well, that hashtag… Sorry: I’m not convinced. It’s personally very vague and unclear to me what exactly their goal is and why they want to get the government under control. I am in favor of an open and honest discussion about the corona measures. So I’m not participating in their #ikdoenietmeermee.
