Knowledgeable through quarantine: online courses to start this week

Courses in quarantine corona

If you're thinking: a cúrse, where on earth am I supposed to find the time with three kids, five dachshunds, and a job, then this post is not for you. Are you thinking: meh, I could brush up a bit since I'm indoors and have time: bingo, we're giving you some tips to become skilled in quarantine.

1. A course in interior styling from Huismuts
Starts exactly one week from now, namely on April 20. The entire course can simply be followed via Instagram, so you don't have to do anything complicated, and by the end, you'll be an interior pro, I can imagine. This is one that I'm going to sign up for. You get it for a soft price, as the course from Huismuts is on sale from €119.95 for €79.95.

2. Masterclass by Anna Wintour
Getting an explanation of how the fashion industry works from the grande dame herself. A masterclass that has been on my list for a while, but I never got around to it. Masterclass is a great platform, as you are trained by the best in any field. Learning to cook from Gordon Ramsay, a course on filmmaking taught by Martin Scorsese, and thus creativity and leadership by Anna. It does come with a price tag, but they are said to be the most enjoyable masterclasses online.

3. Learn Photoshop
In the category of always-wanted-to-learn: how on earth to get by with Photoshop. Now is a great time to brush up on those skills. For 29 euros, you get lifetime access. Quite a promise.

4. An online first aid course via the Red Cross
I've promised myself a hundred times to really do this, but it never happens. Just like that resuscitation course. This time proves once again how important it is to be able to care. Even if it's just by mastering the basics.

5. Learn a language
I wanted to take Greek lessons myself, but that didn't happen due to the move. I now solemnly promise myself that during my next visit to Greece, I will speak a decent amount of Greek. If you do it via LOI, you even get a recognized diploma, for the real overachievers. But installing a free app on your phone will also help you get started with the basic greetings. It doesn't have to be Greek, right? Italian, Chinese, brushing up on your English, I think it's all a wise investment.

6. The free course from Yale
And, what did you do in your quarantine? A Yale course. Look, that sounds like you didn't rest on your laurels during quarantine. The Yale course is one about The Science of Well-Being and is taught by Professor Laurie Santos. You learn about your own happiness and how to develop productive habits. I think it's a recommendation. Plus: the course is free. Shall I see you online?
