Guaranteed laughter: Space Force on Netflix is so much fun

I am a big fan of The Office. And yes, actually the American version, not the original, although the one with Ricky Gervais is also nice. Just not as good as Steve Carell. The Office was my first introduction to him and since then he can do no wrong. He even manages that when I watch Crazy, Stupid, Love, I don't only have eyes for Ryan Gosling. A very impressive feat. 40 Year Old Virgin is also hilarious. Well, you get it: I can name a whole list of Steve Carell movies but the gist remains the same: he is one of the best comedy actors of the moment.

He proves this again with the new series Space Force, which is now on Netflix. To be honest: the name didn't immediately appeal to me. I got a bit of Star Trek associations and I don't like science fiction series at all. But no, Space Force is not that at all. It's so much better. Also not unimportant: Lisa Kudrow plays a big role and that's of course only good news.

Okay, why this series is so fun: a group of people is tasked by the American government to establish the United States Space Force, the sixth branch of the Armed Forces. Because the ultra-smart president came up with the brilliant plan to not only man the earth with the military but also space. No joke by the way: this was genuinely a plan by President Trump. He signed in 2018 for the establishment of this Space Force, so that America was ready for warfare in space. This plan can't really go wrong, can it? What a smart man Trump is.

You might expect that this president gets a lot of criticism in this series. Pure enjoyment. And nice and easy: each episode lasts ‘only’ half an hour so it's an ideal snack.

The similarities with The Office don't stop with just Steve Carell: he is also one of the creators and so his Michael Scott humor will be very present. And as a cherry on top, Space Force is also a workplace comedy. Almost everything takes place in the office where this group is trying to gain total dominance over space.
