Lidl is promoting again

I'm quite a snob: let me taste a wine and I'll definitely choose the most expensive one. Just yesterday when I got to taste six (wow! Favorite day!) wines for Lidl. I found the most expensive one to be the tastiest. It cost €4.69. Haha.
Lidl has something again that makes us happy. Six top wines selected by Richard Bompfield, who is a Master of Wine. That is, so I've been told by my dear colleague from FavorFlav, a title in the wine industry that is akin to an academic one, you have to study a lot for it. And there are only 300 of them in the world. This is just to indicate that we are dealing with an expert here. Well, that Master of Wine has chosen six wines for Lidl that all met his strict requirements AND that would not cost more than €5,-. Because Lidl remains Lidl.
I will go through them point by point, starting with my personal favorites.

1. Chardonnay Coonawarra, €4,69
A top wine, full and round but not too heavy. And then that label with the koala. I'm getting it.
2. Chardonnay Colombard, €3,49
From the South African West Cape, slightly drier than the Coonawarra, a bit fresher too and according to the Master of Wine also ‘refreshing and uncomplicated dry’. Go for it.
3. Chenin Blanc, €2,99
‘Correct in every respect’, that is this wine according to the Master of Wine. I agree with him because this is the wine that everyone likes. I with my preference for fuller wines and my beloved who prefers the drier ones.
Now moving on to the reds.

1. Fairtrade Shiraz, €3,99
What a delightful, full, round wine I found this. Brompfield said the following about it: ‘Good color and ripe, juicy nose. Lots of flavor, good fruit, warming, balanced oak, a lot of pleasure, hot finish.’ Crackling fireplace, here we come. And again, applause for the elephant label.
2. Shiraz Australia, €2,99
‘Rich, ripe fruit, spicy, sweet fruity with a dry finish,’ according to the expert. I would definitely serve this with a nice piece of meat.
3. Chevalier De Fauvert Pays D’oc, €2,99
A good, authentic merlot that is praised by the Master of Wine for its ‘good, fresh and plum-like nose’. This wine is perfect if you prefer a slightly fresher, lighter wine and find the other two too strong.
I know where I'm going with an empty trunk later. It's going to be a cozy weekend.
