Netflix is coming with a new Belgian thriller series The Twelve

the twelve series

The latest Belgian addition to Netflix is not out yet, but I still have very high expectations for it. The Twelve will premiere with us on April 17, meaning the entire season will be released online; it already premiered last year in Cannes and received multiple awards there. It was also shown on the Belgian channel Eén last November, so you might have already seen it there.

A thriller series from our southern neighbors feels nice and close, and after the embarrassment called Ares, I am ready for a series that is truly exciting. Can you deliver on that, Netflix? You are really behind 6-0 thanks to that whole Ares debacle.

Okay, the plot at least sounds good (but then again, it sounded good for Ares too…). A popular jury in Belgium consists of twelve people, hence the name of the series. When twelve jurors are tasked with examining the case of one Frie Palmers, who receives a lot of media attention, it also has a significant impact on their private lives.

The available spoilers talk about a major twist in the trial against Frie Palmers, which puts the jury's verdict back in question. And that trailer, it looks good. I find it exciting and I generally love series with trials, plot twists, and a lot of tension. So April 17, all ten episodes will be online. If all goes well (fingers crossed), the quarantine will be over by then, but I will voluntarily put myself in for a binge session.
