Netflix is coming with seven (!) new Spanish titles

la casa de papel

Very good, gentlemen and ladies. My non-existent Spanish has become a bit better thanks to series like La Casa de Papel  and Vis a Vis, although you might not say that. I also sing Despacito, according to myself, flawlessly by now. Well, good news, because maybe in a while I will speak fully fluent Spanish: Netflix is releasing SEVEN Spanish titles. Siiii, VAMOS.

Now among those seven titles are also two series that you can finish in a very quick pace; each episode lasts only ten minutes. So yes, that goes by muy rapido of course. The first one, El Tiempo Que Te Doy, is about a woman who struggles with the loss of her partner. The second, Ídolo, is a lot darker: a musical star dies on stage, after which a fan sees his chance to fill the shoes of his deceased idol. Hmmm.

Then we have four documentaries: 800 Metros, The Wanninkhof Case, The Beast, and Odio. Especially the first one I think will be a recommendation, as it is a three-part documentary about the attacks in Barcelona. 16 people lost their lives and over 120 people were injured. The documentary delves deeper into how this could happen and what the aftermath is for all those involved and the city. A must-see therefore.

Lastly, we have Feria, and I guess it’s not save the best for last: it’s about two sisters who discover that their parents are monsters. Eeuuhh, okay… That was the first description I read about it. I thought: that must be a kids' series, a cartoon or something. Still did some research just to be sure...

And then the series actually looks really cool. Because their parents were indeed monsters, but in a figurative way: members of some sick cult. So it’s going to be a thriller/horror series and I have confidence that it will cause sleepless nights.

Then of course the big question: WHEN does this spectacle happen? Well, that’s still a bit unclear. Feria will at least be available at the end of 2021, as the recordings take place from November to March. 800 Metros unfortunately still has no release date, as I checked that right away — but I have signed up for notifications about it, so hopefully I will have better news soon. Just a little more patience.
