Need a new addiction? Check out Las Chicas Del Cable on Netflix

Earlier this week I tipped The Stranger for you, which — if I may say so myself — was an incredibly good tip. Most people agreed, fortunately, but I saw a lot of messages that you had already finished it. Now, I find that pleasant for one, because there are indeed several who share my Netflix pace, so I have less of that shame. And secondly, of course, it's less pleasant, because that tip was a bit of mustard after the meal. My apologies for that, and as a peace offering, I do have a really nice tip that you couldn't possibly have finished yet. The brand new season (number five) of Las Chicas Del Cable has been online since today.
That means that in the worst case, you only have that fourth season left to watch, and in the best case, you can binge the four seasons before it as well. Either way, it seems like a win-win situation, right? The fifth season is also the very last one, and it will be split into two parts. The last part will be released online later.
Just a little introduction in case you're not familiar with this series. It is — surprisingly given the name — Spanish-speaking, and we see some familiar faces here and there. Maggie Civantos for example, whom you know better as Macarena from Vis a Vis. In that respect, the comparisons with Vis a Vis also stop; Las Chicas Del Cable is set in the 1920s, where four women go to work for a telecommunications company. It is the first Netflix Original from Spain and certainly has a political undertone.
No spoilers, no worries, but that political undertone leads to quite a cliffhanger in season 4. And okay, mini-spoiler; somewhere in those four seasons, Vis a Vis it does get a bit closer with a stunt in prison. But above all, Las Chicas Del Cable is thrilling and just very addictive. And that whole vibe of the 1920s (and the matching outfits) I think is just amazing. What did I tell you? Good tip, right? Exactly.
