No joint Christmas for the Roelvinkjes

Anyway, first a happy birthday for Donny, because yes, he is celebrating his birthday today. Together with his girlfriend Janice, a night away including a big hot tub in the room and champagne; there are worse ways to celebrate your birthday in quarantine, it seems to me.

But the festivities at the Roelvinkjes do come to an end. Well, in the family at least. Christmas is not celebrated together due to the fact that Dave and Donny are not getting along very well right now. According to father Dries, the two would find it ‘forced’ to celebrate Christmas as a happy family. I can understand that: if I were in a big fight with my brother, I would also skip that Christmas dinner.

‘It’s still not good between the boys,’ Dries says about it. But why, that remains a mystery. After the summer, it came out that they hadn’t spoken to each other for months, but both say very little about it. Well, not that it really concerns us anyway. And spending Christmas Day with Dave and Boxing Day with Donny seems like a fine little schedule to me.
