Rest in peace, George

There was gospel music, there were Bible readings. “Let’s make it a real African American funeral. Let’s celebrate the life of George Floyd and not mourn,” said the pastor at the start of the service.
Last night (6:00 PM Dutch time), George was taken to his final resting place, two weeks after the black American lost his life due to police violence. Due to corona, a maximum of 500 people were welcome, but the service was also streamed live. Radio stations observed a moment of silence, and in New York, the stock market was even halted for eight minutes and forty seconds.
Candles were lit. Fists were raised. The mayor of Houston gave a speech in which he stated that chokeholds would be banned in his city. After the service, George's casket was brought to the cemetery in an impressive procession. There he was buried next to his mother.
An innocent, 46-year-old father. This should never have happened. Rest in peace, dear George.
