Social Distance: from the creators of OITNB

It was of course only a matter of time before a series like this would come along. A series completely made with social distancing. Sounds interesting of course, but it can also get boring very quickly. So you have to make sure there is a good team behind it. Well, that has worked: the creators (and actors) of Orange Is The New Black have gotten to work on it and Taystee (Danielle Brooks) is definitely in it, and she was my favorite from the series so I am satisfied.

And the trailer doesn't look bad either. A bit dramatic, that's true — but it is also corona time after all. Many different people, each with their own problems that come to the surface due to social distancing and quarantine. An unhappy marriage, a lonely alcoholic, a mother who misses her daughter… No, they may not be the most uplifting stories, but judging by the trailer, it doesn't seem too heavy-hearted.

We don't have to wait much longer to see for ourselves if the first season is any good: next Thursday, on October 15th, season number one will be released. A bit of a dilemma here, because if it’s fun and we want a season two, that also automatically means we’ll be stuck in this corona misery longer. That’s actually the whole concept of the series. So actually, the fewer seasons, the better for us. Tough.
