The Immortal: Gomorrah movie comes to Netflix

Very good news, this. Mafia series and films are a hit and that trend is not going to end anytime soon. But it's a bit serious that I haven't finished the series I'm going to talk about yet. Very bad, I know. And this while all four seasons have been available on Netflix for a long time. I have disappointed myself.
That series is called Gomorrah and is honestly really cool (despite the fact that I haven't seen all the episodes yet). The story takes place in Naples and revolves around drug dealers, mafia bosses, and a little bit about ordinary citizens. Now, I find the whole history of mafia practices in Naples very interesting anyway, even more interesting than the delicious pizzas that come from there. Gomorrah now has four seasons with a fifth on the way, and that will be the last one.
But until we can watch that fifth season, we can already dive into L’Immortale on September 1, the prequel to the series. If this name sounds familiar to you: it can, it was actually released in 2019. In theaters too. Was it a hit? Well, it did dethrone Frozen 2 in Italy, so... Yes, we can call this a hit.
In L’Immortale we follow Ciro Di Marzio, played by Marco D’Amore, what a lovely Italian name, who we also know from Gomorrah. By the way, Mr. D’Amore also directed the film. We see how Ciro Di Marzio has to survive on the streets after losing both parents in an earthquake.
This is how he becomes ‘friends’ (in other words, he becomes a sort of errand boy and goes into training) with the drug lords, who become a mentor for him. Just a side note: De Volkskrant gave this film three stars earlier this year, but did mention that season 3 is quite spoiled in the film. Apparently, there are a number of scenes that look ahead to the present. So if you haven't reached season 3 yet (like me, I'm going to binge hard): be warned.
But for the fans of La Casa de Papel, Vis a Vis, The Wire and actually everything related to crime, prison, drugs and mafia: this is of course a must for you.
