That one and a half meter distance, we all stick to that, right? I hope so, because I will really be bummed if this situation is extended again on June 1. We'll just have to wait and see, of course. But sitting inside all day and night and then doing exactly the same thing the next day... That's not very good for a person, I think. Sure, this sounds a bit like a luxury problem, because how hard is it to stay indoors? But going outside every now and then is really good for you. state of mind. And with one and a half meters distance, it's also very pleasant. So here are the most beautiful places in the Netherlands to drive to (in separate cars, okay) and take a walk.
1. Amsterdamse Bos
For me, it's quite close since I live in Amsterdam, but it's nice and big and you can walk for hours. I'm not a fan of city parks, and the Amsterdamse Bos offers much more peace. Especially in these times, the chance of running into someone is small, and there are dozens of routes you can take each time. It doesn't get boring quickly.
2. Utrechtse Heuvelrug
If the Amsterdamse Bos is way too small for you, then take the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. You really haven't explored that one yet, and it's also incredibly beautiful. Luckily, that spring sun is showing itself more and more, so a long walk here is definitely not a punishment.
3. De Hoge Veluwe
Yeah, this speaks for itself, of course. A weekend in the Veluwe always brings me complete relaxation. And I love walking, so that's a total win-win situation. Extra nice is that the landscape here is quite varied. Yes, you wouldn't think so, but there's never a dull moment in the Veluwe...
4. Loonse en Drunense Duinen
You might think this is by the sea because of the name, but that's not the case. No, this area is located between Tilburg and Den Bosch. If you live nearby and want to escape your quarantine for a bit, you can drive here very well.
5. De Bossen van het Loo
Again a bit smaller, these are the forests in Apeldoorn. And okay, I'm attached to ‘my’ Amsterdamse Bos, but this one really wins over that, you know. So beautiful here. And for tree lovers: the largest in the Netherlands can be found here. About fifty meters high and it's a Douglas fir.
6. Maasduinen
Near Venray, you will find this nature park, just before the border with Germany. You really have to drive here, because otherwise it's quite difficult to reach, but I think this national park is the quietest of all, so that's a big plus for me. And a little road trip is also welcome at the moment.
7. Twiske-Waterland
Festival-goers probably know this as the location of Welcome To The Future, but outside the festival season, you can also go here just fine. Just outside Amsterdam, so you don't have a long travel time and you really get a break. Daredevils can also take a dip here, but it's pretty cold (it is done, by the way).
