The new season of Married At First Sight Australia is enjoyable again

To be honest, it took some getting used to. You invest quite a number of hours, let's say a workweek, in Australian couples you don't know at all and yes, that I had to process for a moment. For example, I had to process that Mike and Heidi were really no longer together (and they don't even follow each other on Instagram anymore, so the break-up is serious), I really had to catch up on what Jess had been up to after the recordings because wherever she is, there's drama. Cam and Jules are welcoming a baby any moment now. They are indeed the only couple that has received a happily ever after .
But there wasn't much time to process all this, because that next season (number seven) was already waiting on Videoland and so there’s a new one every workday. What a dilemma: start watching immediately or take a break? Well, a dilemma of nothing of course, because I immediately started watching. And no, this season we don't have Heidi and Mike, no Jess, but what we do have? At least as much drama.
We are now at episode 18 and I must admit that it’s just as delicious as ever. And a first: the first same-sex couple stepped into the marriage boat: Tash and Amanda. And to say that they didn't click very well is an understatement. What a drama. And again this year, there’s just cheating going on among them (how they manage that I find impressive, you know it all comes out on TV?). And actually, we do have a bit of a Jess, in the form of Stacey — at least the same lips and hair.
Participant Hayley is really the most difficult woman ever and in that respect, she is perfectly matched with the simplest guy ever. And they don’t click very well either and yes, what do you do as a man? You scrub the toilet with her toothbrush. Uh, excuse me? This David really did that. You’re a bit of a crazy category, I must say.
The most endearing one for me is Connie, who has a great passion for everything related to water (and if you check her Insta, you’ll see that she has also been to Antarctica several times, very cool), and Aleks and Ivan (who both have their roots in Eastern Europe) are really the weirdest couple ever. But apparently it works? Don’t ask me how, but they haven’t fought each other out of the tent yet.
And thennn… Yessss, save the best for last: LIZZIE is back. How? What? Where? Just wait a few more episodes and then she is one of the couples that gives the yes-word at the last minute. And honestly: she is really unrecognizable. But seriously, you won’t recognize her. Anyway, I’m completely back into MAFS Australia and I’ve almost forgotten the previous season. Every now and then my heart still aches for Mike and Heidi, but it’s getting less.
